Somatic Experiencing in MAdison, WI
I offer and am able to integrate Somatic Experiencing (SE) into my work with clients who find it helpful. This gentle, body-based approach supports nervous system healing, making space for greater ease and resilience. If you’re feeling stuck in patterns of overwhelm, anxiety, or shutdown, we can explore SE together in a way that feels safe and attuned to your needs. My training through the intermediate level allows me to guide this process with care, always at a pace that works for you.
Trauma can be anything that is “too much, too fast or too soon” or “not enough for too long”

Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-based approach to healing trauma and stress by gently working with the nervous system. If you’re feeling stuck in patterns of overwhelm, anxiety, or shutdown, SE can help restore a sense of safety and ease. SE helps us if we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn move toward recovering, and increased resilience.

SE In session
My approach to incorporating SE in psychotherapy sessions typically looks like tuning into body sensations, exploring nervous system patterns, and gently working with stuck survival energy. This might include slowing down, noticing subtle shifts, or using movement and breath to support regulation. Internal resourcing—connecting with sensations of safety, strength, or support—to help anchor you during the process. We’ll always go at your pace, staying within a window that feels accessible and supportive. SE isn’t about reliving trauma—it’s about helping your system find more ease, resilience, and capacity over time.

is SE right for me?
omatic Experiencing can feel foreign at first, especially if you’re new to tuning into your body in this way. However, if you’re curious about how your body and nervous system hold trauma, past experiences, or messages from your life, SE can help you explore and release stuck energy in a gentle, grounded way. This approach is helpful if you’ve noticed patterns of overwhelm, anxiety, or shutdown that haven’t shifted with talk therapy alone. We’ll move at a pace that feels right for you, and there’s no pressure to dive in until you’re ready.
